Steelcase Table Competition

Steelcase Table Competition

Steelcase invited FOX Architects to be part of a competition to modify their Baseline tabletops. They provided one plywood top as a blank canvas. And after a 4 weeks period to ideate, prepare materials and test construction methods. The competitors had 1 hour to implement their designs to this single wooden table top. With concrete casted modular pieces we decided to create a topographic landscape within a penrose tiling.

Parametric Tri-Part Vase

Parametric Tri-Part Vase

The design started with a simple vase which was modified by a parametric script in which a randomized number of points were created in a surface. This points would be the center points for a number of spheres. This object would then be cleaned and merged as a single surface which was then set to flow on the previously designed vase. The Object was divided in 3 pieces with the middle one casted in resin and the other parts were casted in concrete, therefore creating the flower pot.

Knife + Fork + Spoon

Knife + Fork + Spoon

The idea was to modify a simple utensil and create a new object. The Design was to create a single object that was composed by several elements. This elements were the knife, the fork and the spoon, which in a puzzling manner interlocked their geometries.

Die Trennung

Die Trennung

The idea behind this sculpture was to create a reflection of a particular feeling. In this case “Die Trennung” stands for the period of time where two souls get separated and the devastating hole it leaves in one person. The sadness and consolation go hand in hand in this piece. A direct reference to this piece is the poem XX by Pablo Neruda, “Tonight I can write. - Munich, 2011

Tree City

Tree City

The World is a constructed enviroment, were nature exists until its destroyed. Buildings emerge and nature collapse. The Sculpture represents the buildings within the wood.

Throphy Head

Throphy Head

In order to satisfy the requirements of a client who was an adept of the bullfight, it was decided to install a piece that could represent his admiration to the animal without harming one in the process. The sculpture consists of 41 interlocking pieces that could be assembled at any time. 4 fixed cores, 13 sliding pieces and 24 pieces for the horns.
